Announcement: 'Making Michael' volume two on the way
Updated: Apr 10, 2020
Since the start of this coronavirus crisis, I’ve been wondering what to do with all this spare time stuck indoors. I can read books, or watch Netflix. But is this really the best use of my time?
In October 2017, I announced that I was going to begin work on volume two of ‘Making Michael’. I'd come to the decision that I had unfinished business.
That plan was derailed in 2018 for various reasons. Then, in early 2019, came the Leaving Neverland film.
There were setbacks, but that irksome feeling that I can improve 'Making Michael', both stylistically and with new information, still hasn’t left me.
I quietly resumed work on volume two around a fortnight ago, and I’ve just finished the ‘Road to Off the Wall’ chapter. Last week I hinted on social media that I might give volume two another crack. One option, I said, was to release a chapter on my website and gauge the interest. But I’ve decided that if I’m going to do this, I have to go all the way. No half measures. I'm investing a lot of time and effort, but it's fun.
On Friday, I told you that I'm planning to release the book through my website. The reaction has been fantastic - to the point where I've decided I WILL self-publish and get the book out there physically on Amazon, iBooks, etc. I think Volume Two deserves the same kind of treatment as Volume One. It's only been a matter of hours, but I'm already in discussions over a front cover image.
I won’t commit to a precise date for the release, but I want it done and out by the end of the year. I’m going to provide regular updates on my progress on Twitter and Instagram stories.
